Mr. Book was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Dexter, a retired Nazarene minister, the former owner of Madison One Hour Cleaner in Madison Heights, Mich., and a resident of Dexter.
He was united in marriage to Alene Esterline on July 21, 1940, at Malden. Mrs. Book survives of the home in Dexter.
Besides his wife, survivors include two sons, Roy Lee Book of Melbourne, Fla., and Kenneth Leon Book of Okmulgee, Okla.; three daughters, Carlene Joyce Soroka of Cleveland, Tenn., Paula Faye Burk of Rochester, Mich., and Cheryl Lynn Hurttgam of Sterling Heights, Mich.; one sister, Ina Berra of St. Louis; 12 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Kevin Book; three brothers, Ralph Book, Arthur Book and Eugene Book; two half-brothers, Ray McElrath and Roy McElrath; one sister, Grace Book; and one half-sister, Ruth McElrath.
Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006, in the First Church of the Nazarene in Dexter with Rev. Roger Wooten officiating.
Interment will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery.
