Dorothy W. Vandeven, daughter of the late John Herman and Mary Hulshof Elfrink, was born at Leopold on Jan. 9, 1915, and died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2006, at the age of 91.
Mrs. Vandeven had spent most of her life in the Bloomfield community and had been a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dexter for the past 64 years. In 1977 she retired from Elder Manufacturing Company in Bloomfield. On June 27, 1935, she was married to Edward H. Vandeven, and he preceded her in death on March 16, 1995.
Survivors include three sons, Kenneth and John Vandeven, both of Bloomfield, and Dale Vandeven of DeSoto; two daughters, Kathleen Barr of St. Louis and Ida Joan Rowland of Poplar Bluff; one brother, Sylvester Elfrink of Advance; 22 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006, at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 20, 2006, at St. Johns Catholic Church in Leopold with Father Robert Landewe officiating.
Interment will follow in the St. Johns Catholic Cemetery at Leopold.
The family has asked that memorials be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
