Audie Burnett McGhee

Audie Burnett McGhee, the daughter of the late Charley Chapman and Lora Bean Chapman, was born in Parma on April 6, 1917, and died at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter on Friday, Nov. 17, 2006, at the age of 89.

Mrs. McGhee was a resident of Dexter and Dudley all her life. She was a retired nurse's aide and of the Baptist faith.

On Oct. 1, 1932, she was married to Boyd Burnett in Grayridge. He preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 1987. She later married Weson McGhee, and he preceded her in death.

Surviving are one son, Stan Burnett of Dexter; two daughters, Rita Marsa of Dexter and Vern Ziegler of Farmington; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Thomas Burnett; one daughter, Willa Wilmath; three brothers, Johnny, Walter and Earl Bell; and two sisters, Maudie Walker and Mary Mabie.

Visitation was held from 4-8 Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 20, 2006, at Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Pastor Karen Oldham of Dexter officiating.

Interment followed in Dexter Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Home of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
