Olive M. Garren, daughter of Abner Martin and Olive Branch Martin, was born Jan. 30, 1918, in Brownsville, Tenn., and died Monday, Nov. 6, 2006, at Golden Living Center in Malden.

On May 1, 1976, she and Fulton Garren were united in marriage at Asheville, N.C.

She was a music teacher and graduate of Southwestern College of Music in Memphis, Tenn. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Malden where she played the piano.

Survivors include one son, Joe Ryan of Campbell; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one grandson; and two sisters.

Memorials may be made to the Malden School Choir (Brenda Pinkley), Malden Public Library or First Presbyterian Organ Fund.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006, at First Presbyterian Church in Malden with Rev. Bob Phillips officiating.

Landess Funeral Home in Malden is in charge of all arrangements.
