Mrs. Hampton was a resident of Penermon. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Grayridge where she held many positions. She was a past member of Eastern Star and Heart Health Coalition.
On Dec. 6, 1941, she was married to James Willie Hampton in Conway, Ark. He preceded her in death on Oct. 10, 1992.
Surviving are one sister, Ruthalee Gualt of Greenvriar, Ark.; three sons, James F. Hampton of Essex, Tim Hampton of Tupelo, Miss., and Amos Hampton of Sikeston; six daughters, Nancy McCloud (Series), Deborah Evans and Johnnie Beecham, all of Memphis, Tenn., Lisa Hampton of Essex, Earnestine Jones and Geraldine Hampton, both of Malden; 25 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Gladys Marie Dalton; five brothers; two sisters; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Leroy Williams of Poplar Bluff officiating.
Interment will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery in Malden with Watkins & Sons Funeral Home of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
