Freddie J. Layton, the son of the late W.B. and Elsie Layton, was born in East Prairie on Feb. 5, 1931, and died at the Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich, Mich., on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2006, at the age of 75.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; daughter, Lucinda (Todd) Woods; son, Randy; brother, Jerry (Juanita) Layton of Dexter; sisters, Marguerite Burke of Dexter and Frances (Colby) Russel; five grandchildren, Karissa (Scott) Pupava, Kyle Kinney, Noah Layton, Chad Woods and fianceé, Elizabeth Perry, and Amber Woods; and one great-grandchild, Annika Pupava.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, William and Harold.

Visitation was held on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006, and funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, 2006, at the Swartz Funeral Home in Flint, Mich., with Pastor Bruce Lawton of New Covenant Free Methodist Church officiating.

Interment was in Flint Memorial Park in Flint, Mich.
