Hazel Jewell Lawrence

Hazel Jewell Lawrence, daughter of the late Joseph Ben and Eva May Cumpton Stafford, was born at Bloomfield on Sept. 11, 1908, and died at Golden Living Center in Bloomfield on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006, at the age of 98.

On Nov. 18, 1926, she was married to Everett Lawrence. They lived in St. Louis for several years and retired from the V.A. Hospital in St. Louis. In 1941 Mrs. Lawrence returned to Bloomfield where she and her husband operated a grocery store in Aquilla. She was an active member of Mt. Pisgah General Baptist Church at Aquilla as long as her health permitted. Mr. Lawrence preceded her in death on July 12, 2000. She was also preceded in death by one brother and a sister.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Mildred Mayo of Blytheville, Ark.; special friends, Denver and Pauline McMillan of Aquilla. Other relatives and many friends survive to mourn her passing.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006, at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Cotus James officiating.

Interment will follow in the North Antioch Cemetery near Bloomfield.
