Larry Hancock, the son of Ellsworth Hancock and the late Mary Kitchen Hancock, was born in Puxico on Oct. 26, 1944, and died at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau on Monday, Dec. 18, 2006, at the age of 62.
He had lived in Puxico all his life, was a graduate of Puxico High School in 1962, and a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University in 1990. He was a farmer, bus driver for the Puxico Public Schools, and was the Duck Creek Township collector. He attended the Duck Creek Missionary Baptist Church, was a member of the Puxico Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M., and the Scottish Rite in St. Louis. He had been a member of the Army National Guard. He enjoyed loafing at Hoover's with friends, jugging, fishing and hunting.
On Nov. 26, 1977, he was married to Patricia "Pat" Kay Nichols in Bell City.
Surviving are his wife, Pat Hancock of Puxico; one son, Richie Hancock of Puxico; two daughters, Jaime Lynn Hancock and Jackie Wilkerson, both of Puxico; one grandchild; his father, Ellsworth Hancock of Puxico; three brothers, Keith Hancock, Tim Hancock and Todd Hancock, all of Puxico; two sisters, Debra Gillean of Fisk and Darla Crain of Puxico.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Linda Diane Hancock.
Visitation will be held after 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006, at the Puxico High School Gymnasium in Puxico with Elder Jerry Park of Puxico and the Rev. Dean Medlin of Parma officiating.
Interment will follow in the Duck Creek Cemetery near Puxico with Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico in charge of arrangements.
