Glenda J. Capps, daughter of the late O.H. and Mamie Caple Stark, was born in Caledonia, Miss., on June 3, 1927, and died in Tulsa, Okla., on Sunday, Dec. 17, 2006, at the age of 79.

Mrs. Capps spent most of her life in the Dexter community, but she had been a resident of Tulsa since 2001. She married John Marvin Capps on Dec. 19, 1952, who preceded her in death. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dexter, the American Legion Auxiliary and had been involved in various community activities.

Survivors include one son, John M. Capps of Houston, Texas; three daughters, Kristie Gibson of Tulsa, Okla., Cathy Miller of Houston, Texas, and Carla Hunt of St. Peters; three granddaughters, Katie Gibson of Tulsa and Sarah and Becca Hunt of St. Peters; one grandson, John Marvin Capps, II of Houston; one sister, Wynola Hill of St. Louis; one brother, Orin Stark of Mystic, Conn.; beloved nieces Sandra Hart Shaw of Fairfax Station, Va., Karen Ortmann of St. Louis, and other extended family.

Graveside rites will be conducted at the Dexter Cemetery at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006.
