Clauvus Ward, 88, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter.
He was born Nov. 23, 1918, in Cannan, Ark., son of the late Nathaniel and Cordelia O'Neal Ward. He was a member of the New Bethel Church from 1946-1964. He farmed in the Charleston area. In 1964, he moved to Dexter where he owned and operated his own farming operation until his retirement in 1978. He was a Navy veteran serving in World War II on the aircraft carrier Antetium.
He is survived by one son Jimmie Ward of Dexter; two sisters, Emogene and Earlene Johnson, both of Cannan, Ark.; two grandsons; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held after 5 p.m. Monday at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston where funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006, with Rev. Robert Medlock officiating.
Interment followed in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
