Alpha L. Lacy, the daughter of the late Grover and Lura Welch Brawley, was born in Redford on Oct. 10, 1914, and died at the National Healthcare Facility in St. Charles on Dec. 29, 2006, at the age of 92.

Mrs. Lacy had lived in Morehouse most of her life but had moved to St. Charles years ago. She was a member of the Nazarene Church in Morehouse and later attended the Baptist Church.

On May 5, 1937, she was married to Harold Wilson Lacy in Morehouse. He preceded her in death on Nov. 4, 1976.

Surviving are one daughter, Anna Lou Rennier of St. Charles; three grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, one in infancy and David Lacy; and three sisters, Mavis Bryant, Nina Street, and Virginia Ferrell.

Visitation was held from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Morehouse.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Morehouse with the Rev. Randy Thomas of Sikeston officiating.

Interment followed in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston with Watkins & Sons Funeral Home of Morehouse in charge of arrangements.
