"Aunt Duck"

Elsie (McKeller) Cole was born March 14, 1926, in Parma. She was born to the late William and Annie McKeller.

At an early age she confessed her faith and accepted Christ as her personal Savior under the leadership of Rev. Stewart. She was a faithful member of New Mount Zion Church for more than 50 years. She was very active in the church; she served as church secretary, taught Sunday school, and also served as church treasurer.

Elsie was married to the late Leonard Cole. He preceded her in death on March 26, 1965.

Elsie worked for DAEOC for many years. She also worked on the election board and was a devoted mother and loved to travel with her children.

Elsie died at 2 p.m. Dec. 30, 2006, with her family by her side. Elsie loved her family and friends, and she always prayed that they would put God first in whatever they did.

Elsie leaves behind to cherish her loving memories two daughters, Martha McClure and Donna Givens both of Poplar Bluff; eight sons, Leonard Cole Jr. of Oklahoma City, Eddie Cole, Ervin Cole, and Clarence Cole all of Marion, Ind., Larry Cole, Lawrence Cole, Glen Cole, all of Essex, and Norman Cole of Sikeston; three sisters; Harriette Hill of Essex, Mary Johnson of Poplar Bluff, and Mozell Shaw of Malden; 45 grandchildren; 90 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; two adopted children, L.C. Jacobs and Glossie Austin. She was preceded in death by three brothers; Henry, William, and Martin; three sisters, Ethel, Essie, and Arlena; and three grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Saturday Jan. 6, 2007, from 11 a.m. until noon.

Funeral services will then be conducted at noon in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel.

Interment will follow at the Macedonia Cemetery in Malden.
