Vevlean Clary, daughter of the late Jesse Colbert Hamby and Geneva Fitzpatrick Hamby, was born on April 24, 1916, at Bloomfield and died in the Golden Living Center at Dexter on Jan. 6, 2007, at the age of 90.

Mrs. Clary was a member of the First Pentecostal Church at Dexter, a homemaker and a resident of Dexter.

Survivors include one daughter, Maxine Garner of Dexter; one sister, Hazel Robinson of Dexter; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Murlyn "Murl" Clary; one grandson, Don Garner; four brothers, Thurman G. Hamby, Jesse Eugene Hamby, John Payton Hamby, and Jake Freeman Hamby; and one sister, Daphna Worley.

Visitation was held from 1-3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services were then conducted at 3 p.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Robert Bentley officiating.

Interment followed in the Caroline Dowdy Cemetery.
