James "J.C." Beaird, the son of the late Leland and Alma Bates Beaird, was born in Malden on June 25, 1935, and died at the Missouri Southern Healthcare facility in Dexter on Jan. 8, 2007, at the age of 71.

He had lived in Alabama and South Carolina before moving to Dexter 16 years ago. He was a retired farmer and bridge construction worker and attended the Dexter Methodist Church.

On Dec. 9, 1984, he was married to Marcia Cravens Bain in Kansas City.

Surviving are his wife, Marcia Beaird of Dexter; two step-sons and daughters-in-law, Richard Bain and Mandy and Robert and Josie Bain, all of Kosciusko, Miss.; two grandchildren, Kati and Kyle Bain of Kosciusko, Miss.; two sons and one daughter from a previous marriage.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Eulen Beaird.

Visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. until service time at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Louie Lowe of Dexter officiating.

Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of all arrangements.
