Leon Jones, son of the late Rob and Jannie Mayhan Jones, was born on May 29, 1917, at Damascus, Ark., and died in the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007, at the age of 89.

Mr. Jones was a member of the Dexter Church of Christ, was employed by Morgan Furniture in Dexter as a salesman, and was a resident of Dexter.

He was united in marriage to Clemmie Howard on Oct. 17, 1937, at Chaffee. Mrs. Jones preceded him in death on Nov. 16, 1999.

Mr. Jones is survived by one son, Steve Jones of Dexter; seven grandchildren, Danny Jones, Tammy Mantor, Randy Jones, Matthew Jones, Christy Mercado, Beckie King, and Jessica Young; 10 great-grandchildren, Samantha Jones, Rilee Jones, Shelbie King, Alan King, Ryan Young, Kaitlyn Jones, Halley Jones, Jared Mantor, Blake Mantor and Bronwen Young.

Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Rick Jones and Edward Jones.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007, at the Dexter Church of Christ with Don Bahr officiating.

Interment will follow at Chalk Bluff Cemetery in rural Dexter.
