Virlin Gaylord

Virlin "Buz" Gaylord, son of the late Horace Edgar Gaylord and Bessie Jane Martin Gaylord, was born on Nov. 29, 1928, at Cooter and died in the Southeast Missouri Hospital at Cape Girardeau on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, at the age of 78.

Mr. Gaylord was a regional claims manager for Shelter Insurance, a veteran of the United States Air Force, and a resident of Dexter.

He was united in marriage to Ruth Rainey Dreadon at Piggott. Mrs. Gaylord preceded him in death on Jan. 20, 2005.

Survivors include two daughters, Tonya Gaylord of Gaithersburg, Md., and Tyra Gaylord of Granger, Ind.; two step-sons, Larry Dreadon of Watertown, Tenn., and Jerry Dreadon of Tyrone, Ga.; two brothers, M.H. Gaylord and Woodrow Gaylord, both of Essex.

Visitation will be held from noon until 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

A memorial service will then be conducted at 1 p.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Howard Duer officiating.

Interment will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.

Memorials may be made to the O.A.K.S. Meals on Wheels Program at 23 West Stoddard Street in Dexter or to the Dexter Public Schools Foundation at 1031 Brown Pilot Lane, Dexter, Mo. 63841.
