Dorothy Young, daughter of the late Clarence E. Atchison and Agnes Mary Kight, was born on Dec. 13, 1916, in Cape Girardeau and died at her residence in Dexter on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007, at the age of 90.
Mrs. Young was of the Methodist Faith, a former employee with Elders Manufacturing in Dexter for 31 years, and a resident of Dexter.
She was united in marriage to George Young on April 2, 1957, in Hernando, Miss. Mr. Young preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 1985.
Survivors include four sons, Dale Jones and Tommy Jones, both of Dexter, Albert Jones of Yakima, Wash. and Ronald Young of Lowndes; by three daughters, Barbara Groves of Corning, Ark., Mary Wilkerson of Defuniak Springs, Fla., and Patsy Rogers of Lowndes; by one sister Laverne Ellis of Cape Girardeau; also by 37 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Jackie Jones; by three daughters, Shirley McAnally, Betty Cox, and Debra Medcalf; by two brothers, Ardel Atchison and Harold Atchison; also by one sister, Virginia Atchison.
Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007, at 10 a.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Mike Kohlbaker officiating.
Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
