Mrs. Powell was a homemaker and a resident of Dexter.
On Nov. 20, 1960, she was united in marriage to Clarence Powell at Fisk. Mr. Powell preceded her in death on April 8, 1981.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Cantrell of Dexter and Willie Powell of Puxico; seven daughters, May Jo Starnes of Michigan, Norma Smith of Dexter, Treva Lee of St. Charles, Jonnie Maddox of Puxico, Barbara Case of Dexter, Pattie Freed of Wappapello, and Angela Mays of Dexter; one sister, Pearl Hill of Ellsinore; 27 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Lottie Phillips; two brothers; six sisters; one great-grandson; and one great-great-grandson.
Visitation was held from 10 a.m. - 12 noon today, Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services were conducted at noon in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Jonia Ray Smith and Rev. Mike Kohlbaker officiating.
Interment followed in the Dudley Cemetery.
