Thomas Wayne Evans, son of the late Jewell Evans and Eva Crawford Evans, was born on Dec. 3, 1930, at Kennett and died in the Golden Living Center at Malden on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007, at the age of 76.
Mr. Evans was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter, retired from Bud Shell Ford in Dexter, was a former butcher for I.G.A. and Kroger, and was a former food broker for Bean Patterson. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He was first united in marriage to Wanda Huskey on Jan. 8, 1950, at Kennett. Mrs. Evans preceded him in death on Sept. 28, 1999. He then married Patricia Thornton Adair on Sept. 8, 2002, at Dexter. She survives of the home in Dexter.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Gaylon and Trudy Evans of Union City, Tenn.; one daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Greg Owens of Olathe, Kan.; one daughter-in-law, Kathie Evans of Olathe, Kan.; two step-daughters and sons-in-law, Avis and Michael Murray of Folkston, Ga., and Naomi and Wayne O'Connor of Velm, Wash.; one sister and brother-in-law, Selena and James Garner of Dexter; by grandchildren, Melissa and Mike Carter, Christina Evans, Nichole and Eric Graham, Michael Martinez, Andrew Evans, Daniel Evans; by step-grandchildren, Caleb Murray, Joshua Murray, Hannah Murray, Cameron Murray, Hayden O'Connor, and Noah O'Connor; great-grandchildren, Megan Evans, Taylor Evans, Joseph Hamamy, Jude Graham, Gage Graham, and Jessica Carter; by great-great-granddaughter, Olivia Evans; also by nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Pastor Avis Murray and Dr. Ron Wilcoxson officiating.
Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
