Helen W. Blunt, daughter of the late W.W. Snider and Anna May Dowdy Snider, was born on May 24, 1917, near Essex and died in the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007, at the age of 89.
Mrs. Blunt was a member of the St. Joe General Baptist Church in Idalia, a homemaker and resident of rural Essex.
She was united in marriage to Dwight Blunt on Nov. 18, 1934, at Piggott, Ark. Mr. Blunt preceded her in death on Aug. 19, 1995.
Survivors include two sons, Curtis Blunt and wife Thelma of Essex and James Blunt and wife Aud of Bloomfield; two daughters, Norma Williams and husband Robert and Judy Mitchell, all of Las Vegas, Nev.; five sisters, Opal Smith of Dexter, Naomi Coffey of Chesterfield, Esther Gisi of Essex, Martha Homan of Marquand and Nina Tippen of Kennett; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and three step-great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one grandchild in infancy; one great-grandchild in infancy; one son-in-law, Ken Mitchell; three sisters, Ruble Lane, Mildred Mouser and Dorothy Snider; and one brother, R.R. Snider.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2007, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dan Sitz officiating.
Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
