Demaris Stephens, daughter of the late Alfred Clark and Lula Hough Clark, was born on Nov. 13, 1910, at Dexter and died in the Cypress Point Health Care at Dexter on Feb. 10, 2007, at the age of 96.

Mrs. Stephens was a member of the Second General Baptist Church in Dexter, a graduate of Dexter High School, the former owner and operator of Stephens Grocery Store in Dexter and a resident of Dexter.

She was united in marriage to Ernest Milton Stephens on March 26, 1944, at Piggott, Ark. Mr. Stephens preceded her in death on March 17, 1986.

Survivors include one son, Dallas Parks of San Antonio, Texas; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Hollie Clark; three sisters, Virginia Wright and two in infancy.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2007, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Dr. Vyron Yount officiating.

Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
