Mary Christina Sitton, daughter of the late William A. Shell and Lorena Myers Shell, was born on Dec. 19, 1909, in Bollinger County and died in the Crowley Ridge Care Center on Monday, Feb. 19, 2007, at the age of 97.

Mrs. Sitton was a homemaker, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, a member of the Golden Age Quilters Club, was active with the Dexter Senior Citizens Center and a resident of Dexter.

She was united in marriage to Paul W. Sitton on May 11, 1935, in New Madrid County. Mr. Sitton preceded her in death on Aug. 29, 1964.

Survivors include one son, Charles Sitton of Sikeston; three daughters, Marian Chittenden of Broken Arrow, Okla., Ellen Dowdy and Joyce Clark, both of Dexter; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Louis Lowe officiating.

Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
