Ernest W. Botsch, son of the late Christian W. Botsch and Flora Mary Winter Botsch, was born on March 19, 1919, at Carmi, Ill., and died at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau on Friday, Feb. 23, 2007, at the age of 87.
Mr. Botsch was a member of the First Presbyterian Church at Malden, where he served as an elder. Ernest was an avid traveler and was a retired dairyman and farmer of many yeas. He worked with the Land for the Landless and the Heifer International Project while serving as an agricultural missionary in Brazil.
He was united in marriage to Dorothy Howell on Dec. 24, 1939, at Dexter. Mrs. Botsch survives of the home in Bernie.
Survivors include four daughters, JoAnn Smart of Tucson, Ariz., Mary Lou Bass of Cape Girardeau, Judy Thurston of Bernie, and Joyce Ralston of Troutdale, Ore.; two brothers, Erwin Botsch and Orlando Botsch, both of Bernie; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Dennis Botsch.
Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26, 2007, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie with Rev. Dr. Tom Bass officiating.
Interment followed in the Bernie Cemetery.
