Daniel T. Sawyer, the son of the late Cellar and Elnora Hester Sawyer, was born in Caruthersville on Nov. 16, 1946, and died at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter on Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007, at the age of 60.

He had lived in the Dexter and Bloomfield areas all of his life. He was a custodian and had worked for Dexter Public Schools. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Providence Missionary Baptist Church in Puxico.

On Oct. 1, 1977, he was married to Kathy Sue Riney in Puxico.

Surviving are his wife, Kathy Sue Sawyer of Dexter; one son, Freddie Sawyer of Dexter; one daughter, Debbie Sue Walker of Seattle, Wash.; one grandson; four sisters, Darlia Owens of Parma, Anita Wyatt of Dexter, Ann Henson of Festus, and Barbara Rushin of Providence, Ky.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Elaine Scowden.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Don Adams of Matthews officiating.

Interment will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with Watkins & Sons Funeral Home of Dexter in charge of all arrangements. Full military rites will be conducted by the Stoddard County Veterans Honor Team.
