Maxine Harper

Maxine Harper, daughter of the late Ben and Blanche Stanberry Stroud, was born in Wayne City, Ill., on Jan. 9, 1930, and died at the Sikeston Convalescent Home in Sikeston on Saturday, March 3, 2007, at the age of 77.

Mrs. Harper had lived in Morehouse most of her life. She had worked at the International Shoe Factory and National Lock in Sikeston.

In 1964, she was married to Eugene Harper in Bloomfield.

Surviving are her husband, Eugene Harper of Morehouse; and one sister, Betty Patterson of Laguna Hills, Calif.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Lee Stroud, Carl Stroud, Roy Stroud; and four sisters, Elsie Jones, Margaret Simmons, Thelma Manning and Lillian Simmons.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. today, Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Morehouse.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Morehouse with the Rev. Frank Breeden of Morehouse officiating.

Interment will follow in the Essex Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Home of Morehouse in charge of arrangements.
