Lula Mae Rutledge, daughter of the late Thomas Nolan and Lucinda McKenny Nolan, was born on July 21, 1921, at Vardamon, Miss., and died in the Golden Living Center of Malden on Sunday, March 18, 2007, at the age of 85.

Mrs. Rutledge had worked as an outreach worker with D.A.E.O.C. of Dexter. She was a member of the Mt. Calvary Church of Parma and a resident of rural Parma.

She was married to Myles T. Rutledge on Feb. 17, 1947, at Houston, Miss. He preceded his wife in death on May 3, 1974.

Survivors include two sons, Johnnie M. Rutledge of Parma and Thomas Earl Connor of East St. Louis, Ill.; one sister, Johnnie Ruth Luster of Alorton, Ill.; four grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death other than by her parents and her husband by one son in infancy, Willie E. Rutledge; two brothers, Ed Nolan and Dolph Nolan; two sisters, Rosemary Payne and Willie Essie Pratt.

Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2007, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2007, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Rufus Williamson officiating.

Interment will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery in Malden.
