Donald Floyd Merritt, 72, of Hillsdale, Ill. who died March 23, 2007 died at his home in Hillsdale, Ill..

Funeral services will be 10a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2007, at Calvary Church of the Quad Cities 4417-53rd Street, Moline, Ill. Visitation will be Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave, Moline. Ill. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice, Bettendorf, Iowa.

Don was born January 15, 1935, in Bernie to Ellis "Doot" and Myrtle Hicks Merritt. He married Lois Wilson on October 5, 1991, in Moline.

Don was a retired pipe liner working in construction. He was also the former owner of The Shrimp Spot Bait & Tack of Ft. Pierce, Fla. He was a member of the Greenville Masonic Lodge No 245 AF & AM.

Don was an Army veteran. He was a Mason in Greenville and a member of the Teamsters Union. He enjoyed riding his Harley, gardening and visiting with friends.

He is survived by his wife, Lois, of Hillsdale, Ill.; children,

Sherry Fennecken, of Glasgow, Ky., Gary Merritt of Ft. Pierce, Fla.,

Jeri Barber of Russellville, Ky.; step-children, Karen Ahrens of

East Moline, Ill.; Kevin Pointer of Gray, La., Kirk Amador of Orion, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sue Hawthorne of

The Village, Fla. and Brenda Dieter of Winter Gardens, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Everett Merritt.
