Rondle R. Penick, the son of the late John Fletcher and Leona Johnson Penick, was born in Brookland, Ark., on Jan. 12, 1915, and died at the Sells Nursing Home in Matthews on Saturday, March 24, 2007, at the age of 92.
Shortly after his birth, his family moved back to the Dexter, Bernie area where he grew up. He moved to Hammond, Ind., in the late 1940's and worked for the railroad, servicing and maintaining locomotives for over 40 years. Upon retirement, he moved back to Dexter where he resided for 25 years. He was a member of the Bible Missionary Church of Dexter. He accepted Christ as his Savior 40 years ago and was a devoted Christian.
Surviving are his niece, Judy Metzger of Sullivan; sister-in-law, Geraldine Penick of Sullivan; a great-niece, Kristin Metzger; and two cousins, Jessima Walker and Junior Riddle, both of Dexter.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Wendell Penick.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2007, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Kevin Eskew of Bloomfield and Rev. David Houtz of Dexter officiating.
Interment will follow in the Smith-Stevenson Cemetery in Pyletown with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of all arrangements.
