Martin Herron Gaylord, son of the late Edgar Gaylord and Bessie Martin Gaylord, was born on Oct. 10, 1916 in Sharon, Tenn. and departed this life on April 26, 2007 at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo. at the age of 90 years.
Mr. Gaylord was a member and deacon at Grayridge Baptist Church, Mo., a retired farmer of many years, former school bus driver with Richland Public School District and a resident of Essex, Mo.
On Sept. 16, 1939 he was united in marriage to Velma Laverne Hall in Blytheville, Ark. Mrs. Gaylord preceded him in death on June 27, 1998.
Survivors include two sons, Barry Gaylord of Huntsville, Ala. and Randy Gaylord of Essex, Mo.; two daughters, Myra Riddle of New Albany, Miss. and Brenda Stuckey of Little Rock, Ark.; one brother, Woodrow Gaylord of Essex, Mo., four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Virlin "Buz" Gaylord.
Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2007. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, April 28 at 2 p.m. at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Ledbetter and Rev. Robert Lafferty officiating. Interment will follow at the Essex Cemetery in Essex, Mo.
