Avis Horton

Avis Horton, daughter of the late Samuel P. McCollough and Birdie Pittman McCollough was born on Sept. 19, 1909 at Ardmore, Okla. and departed this life at the Central Gardens Residential Care in Dexter on April 25, 2007 at the age of 97.

She was united in marriage to Raymond B. Dayton in February of 1927. Mr. Dayton preceded her in death in 1965. She then married Charles Horton in 1971 at Sherwood Shores, Texas. Mr. Horton preceded her in death in 1978.

Mrs. Horton was a former secretary for Bell Oil; and Gas Refinery in Ardmore, Okla., a stock broker for many years, owner and operator of an appliance store in Ardmore, was of the Baptist faith, and a current resident of Dexter, Mo.

Survivors include one daughter, Betty Yount of Bloomfield, Mo.; two sisters, Bliss Watkins of Ardmore, Okla. and Jovan Dawson of Denver, Colo.; one sister-in-law of Oklahoma City, Okla.; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Milton McCollough.

A graveside service will be conducted in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Ardmore, Okla. at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 30, 2007.
