Emmer Jackson

Emmer Jackson, daughter of the late Raymond and Francis Witherspoon Gay, was born in Forrest City, Ark., on Feb. 11, 1929, and died at the St. Sophia Nursing Home in Florissant on May 12, 2007, at the age of 78.

Mrs. Jackson had lived in Oran for many years and moved to St. Louis a short time ago. She was a member of the Church of God in Bell City.

On April 23, 1949, she was married to Ernest James "E.J." Jackson in Bloomfield. He preceded her in death on May 17, 2001.

Surviving are five sons, Thomas Jackson of Noblesville, Ind., Raymond Jackson of St. Louis, Timmy Jackson of Perryville, Md., Gary Jackson of Milwaukee, Wis., Earnest Jackson of Kenosha, Wis.; six daughters, Kathy Heady of Haywood City, Mattie Jackson of Noblesville, Ind., Norma Jackson and Flora Jackson, both of Milwaukee, Wis.; 23 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one brother, Eddie Gay of Bernie; two sisters, Mattie Ayers and Flora Harris, both of Detroit, Mich.; two step-daughters, Falisha Winston of Haywood City and Elizabeth Nance of Peoria, Ill.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Bishop Lue Turner Gay.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2007, at the House of Prayer Church of God in Christ in Parma with Elder Ronald Pulley of Sikeston officiating.

Interment will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery in Malden with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
