Robert A. Clark

Robert A. Clark, son of the late Charles Clark and Melvina Nelson Clark, was born on Dec. 8, 1918, at Bernie and died in the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau on May 29, 2007, at the age of 88.

Mr. Clark was a veteran of the United States Army, had worked at Balling Rubber Company of Pontiac, Mich., for 14 years later moving to Bernie where he was owner/operator of the Sinclair Station for many years. Mr. Clark was also a active member of the Church of the Nazarene in Bernie.

On May 18, 1940 he was united in marriage to Marta Jean Parks at Bernie. She preceded her husband in death on Sept. 30, 1997.

Survivors include one daughter, Kathy Benton of Glendale, Ariz.: three grandchildren; and a special niece and caregiver, Christa Edmonds.

He was preceded in death other than by his parents and his wife, by five brothers, Raymond Clark, Melvin Clark, Charles Clark, Gene Clark, and Lorie Clark: by three sisters, Ethel Fyffe, Evelyn Rice and Lena Shane.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2007.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 1, 2007, at 11 a.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. John Humbert officiating. Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
