Lena Keepers, daughter of the late Floyd Morgan and Mayme Simmons Morgan was born on Sept. 6, 1917, in Advance and died at the Cypress Point Healthcare in Dexter on June 3, 2007, at the age of 89.
Mrs. Keepers retired from Missouri Department of Social Services in Butler County. She was a former owner of Lena's Café in Puxico, member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Dexter, 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star in Bloomfield, Chapter 385, and former member of Altrusa Club in Poplar Bluff.
Lena was previously married to Glenn Hyslop. On June 20, 1959, she was united in marriage to Joseph Keepers in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death on Oct. 15, 2006.
Mrs. Keepers was a devoted mother to her daughters, Sue Grobe of Dexter, and the late Margaret Anne Sifford. She cherished her five grandchildren: Morgan Sifford of Puxico, Missouri, the late Chris Sifford, Sue Anne Sifford of Sikeston, Kerri Kruse and Kristi Booker both of Dexter; by five great-grandchildren; also by several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, husband, daughter, and grandson, Mrs. Keepers was preceded in death by two sisters, Floy Jean Morgan and Ann Rainey.
Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Wednesday June 6, 2007.
Funeral services will then be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2007, with Rev. Vaughn Wright officiating.
Interment will follow at the Morgan Memorial Park Cemetery in Advance, Missouri.
