Ruth Griffey

Ruth Griffey, daughter of the late Ben Henson and Gertrude Jones Henson, was born on March 13, 1922, in LaValle and died on May 31, 2007, at her residence in Dexter at the age of 85.

On June 9, 1940, she was united in marriage to Roy "Ike" Griffey in Grayridge. Mr. Griffey preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 1991.

Survivors include two sons, Roy Don Griffey of Benton, Ky., and Terry R. Griffey of Dexter; two brothers, Bob Henson of Benton, Ky., and Lee Henson of Converse, Ind.; two sisters Gale Henson of Dexter and Ann Willits of Kokomo, Ind.; also by five grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Roger "Butch" Griffey; and eight brothers and sisters.

Visitation was held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2007.

Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, June 3, 2007, at 2 p.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. David Hardin officiating.

Interment followed at the Sadler Chapel Cemetery in Dexter.
