Ralph Shipley

Ralph Shipley, son of the late Hugh and Mary Elizabeth Bradall, was born in Piggott, Ark., on Dec. 17, 1912, and died at the Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston on June 18, 2007, at the age of 94.

Mr.Shipley had lived in Bloomfield for many years before moving to Sikeston five years ago. He was a retired farmer and was a member of the New Beginning Fellowship Church in Sikeston.

On March 2, 1940, he was married to Leodith Colvin in New Madrid. She preceded him in death on Jan. 4, 2003.

Surviving are two sons, Steve Shipley of Sikeston and Jerry Chisholm of Advance; two daughters, Elizabeth Tison of Bloomsdale and Jennolia Leathers of Dexter; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Jennivee Chisholm; one brother, Dewey Shipley; and four sisters, May Colvin, Gertrude Morris, Mertle Edwards and Rosie Irby.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2007, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2007, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Bill Martin of Sikeston officiating.

Interment will be in the Bloomfield Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
