Juanita Barber, daughter of the late William Harvey and Blanche Thompson Peppers, was born in East Prairie on Aug. 23, 1925, and died at the Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston on Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at the age of 81.

Mrs. Barber had lived in Essex most of her life and was of the Pentecostal faith. On Jan. 16, 1946, she was married to Louis H. Barber in Piggott, Ark. He preceded her in death on May 29, 1996.

Surviving are two daughters, Sharon Benthal of Portageville and Carolyn Merrick of Sikeston; seven grandchidren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Shirley Peppers of Alexandria, Ind.

She was preceded in death by one son, James L. Barber.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 2007, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, June 29, 2007, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Maxwell Lewis of Bernie officiating.

Interment will follow in the Essex Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
