Rev. Pruett retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1970 after serving 23 years and lived in Poplar Bluff until 1990 when he moved to Bloomfield. He was ordained as a non-denominational minister in 1958 and had served at several churches in this area as well as in Alaska and California. He was a member of The Living Waters Worship Center in Bloomfield. On March 31, 1951, he was married to Reva Cook.
Survivors include his wife Reva Pruett of the home in Bloomfield; one son, Bloyce Pruett of Kansas City; three brothers, Loran Pruett of Bloomfield, Carman Pruett of Kenton, Tenn., and Cletus Pruett of Dexter; three sisters, Clodina Mann of Jackson, Freeda Waggoner and Loralee Cox, both of Dexter; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, James William; and two sisters, Velda Metcalf and Verma Nancy Pruett.
Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, June 24, 2007, at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2007, at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. James Hook and Rev. Cotus James officiating.
Interment followed in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield with military rites conducted by the Stoddard County Veterans Honor Guard.
