Sniders celebrate 50 years

Monday, July 2, 2007

The children of Jim and Donnis (Sadler) Snider surprised their parents on June 9th for their 50th wedding anniversary at the St. Joe General Baptist Church in Idalia.

Doug Snider, Shari Bowers and Traci Burnett catered a dinner that started at 6 p.m. The couple were seated at a "table for two" deecorated with gold and greenery. There were placemats on each table made from the couple's wedding pictures.

Grandson Corey Snider played his guitar and sang "True Love Waits" as a tribute to his grandparents.

Doug and Traci sang a song from their wedding written by Ruth Larue, aunt of Ernie and Johnny Hill, and played by Traci Robinson called "This Is The Day".

Doug then played his guitar and sang "Keeper of the Stars".

There were slides shown that depicted the earlier years of the couple including their wedding.

Granddaughter Brittny Bowers and her cousin Jessie Bowers were at the greeting table and guest book.

The wedding cake was made by a good friend of the couple, Brenda Garner, and served by Lisa Bowers, Jill Bowers, Brittny and Brooke Bowers.

There were approximately 150 guests with several from out of town. Several brought gifts and many brought or sent cards.

Mr. and Mrs. Snider want to thank everyone that came or had a part in any way making it a perfect night.
