Gene and Bernice Hunott of Dexter celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 23, 2007. A surprise reception was held at the Gathering Room at the First Baptist Church of Dexter with family and friends. Gene is a retired AmerenUE employee, and Bernice is a previous employee of International Hat Factory of Dexter.

The couple were married June 22, 1957. They have two children, Pam Hiett of Cape Girardeau and Steve Hunott of Dexter. They have three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Gene and Bernice have also celebrated four generations on both sides of the family.
