Mr. Edwards was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Dexter, a retired farmer, veteran of the United States Navy, twenty-five year member of the American Legion post #59 and a resident of Dexter.
On March 21, 1952, he was united in marriage to Shirley McMullin in Dexter. Mrs. Edwards survives of the home in Dexter.
Besides his wife, other survivors include one son, Thomas Wayne Edwards of Salem; two daughters, Karen Jean Wright of Mexico and Joy Lynn Ward of Dexter; two sisters, Mary Killough of Columbus, GA and Kathy Powers of O'Fallon; eight grandchildren, Erica Hudson, Tyler Wright, Bryan Ward, Lauren Ward, Sara Dollar, Alex Edwards. Jonathon Edwards and Stephanie Edwards; and one great-grandchild, Caden Dollar.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Duane E. Edwards.
Funeral services were conducted at 4 p.m., Sunday, July 15, 2007, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Vaughn Wright officiating. A graveside service was held at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield at 1 p.m., Monday, July 16, 2007, with Rev. Vaughn Wright officiating. Interment followed in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery.
Family has requested memorials be made to the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ building fund in Dexter.
