Launa Jackie Skelton, daughter of the late Harvey and Myrtie Aslin Bess, was born in St. Louis on March 21, 1930, and died in Cypress Point Health Care at Dexter on Sunday, July 15, 2007, at the age of 77.

On Feb. 10, 1946, she was united in marriage to Donald Lee Skelton. He preceded her in death on April 22, 1994. She was a resident of Bloomfield for several years and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bloomfield.

Survivors include one son, Gary Skelton of Bay City, Texas; two sisters, Mary Galloway of Riveria Beach, Fla., and Patti Teets of Sorento, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Donald Gene Skelton and Larry Skelton.

Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2007, at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Matt Johnson officiating.

Interment will follow in the Liberty Cemetery near Bloomfield with the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
