Henry Barnes, son of the late George Washington Barnes and Tennessee Keck Barnes, was born on April 18, 1907, at Formosa, Ark., and died in the General Baptist Nursing Home at Campbell on Thursday, July 19, 2007, at the age of 100.
Mr. Barnes was a farmer and a wood worker, a member of the Bernie General Baptist Church and a resident of Bernie.
He was united in marriage to Sylvia Augusta Dewitt on Dec. 24, 1934. Mrs. Barnes preceded her husband in death on July 18, 1985.
Survivors include three sons, Jerry Barnes and wife Pat of Dexter, Larry Barnes and wife Darlene of Bernie, and Danny Barnes and wife Debbie of Campbell: three daughters, Loretta Walters and husband Don of Dexter, Barbara Trout and husband Kenny, and Gloria Dean and husband Charles, all of Bernie: one brother, Jessie Barnes of Bernie: one sister, Clara Taylor of Dexter: 20 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death other than by his parents and his wife, by two sons, Billy Barnes and George Henry "Lefty" Barnes: three brothers, Alvin Barnes, Tollie Barnes and Andrew Barnes; two sisters, Beatrice Malone and Macel Kerley.
Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2007.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 22, 2007 in the Rainey-Mathis Chapel with Rev. Rick Roberts and Rev. Steve Fitzpatrick officiating.
Interment will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery in rural Dexter, Missouri.
