Edna Douglas Maupin, 103, of Pine Bluff , Ark., died Sunday, July 29, 2007, at Trinity Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 5, 1903, in Massac County, Ill., the oldest daughter of the late Otto C. Douglas and the late Ella May Smith Douglas. She was reared and received her early education in Illmo, graduating from Illmo High School. She then received a teaching degree from Southeast Missouri State University. She taught junior high school in Cape Girardeau for several years. Then on July 6, 1929, she married C.J. "Jack" Maupin and together they moved to Jonesboro, Ark., for several years; then in 1943 they settled in Pine Bluff, Ark. After that she was a homemaker.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church and a member of United Methodist Women.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of sixty years, C.J. "Jack" Maupin, who died in 1989; three sisters, Vera Douglas Hansel, Lora Douglas Hayes and Evelyn Douglas Castello; and one brother Willard C. Douglas.

Graveside service was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2007, at Bloomfield Cemetery with Reverend Mike Watkins officiating by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to First United Methodist Church, 200 West 6th Street, Pine Bluff, Ark. 71601.
