Fay E. (Garner) Toner, 73, of St. Joseph, formerly of Dexter, died Monday, July 30, 2007, at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Toner was born May 17, 1934, in Matthews. She graduated from Dexter High School in 1952. She married James Arnold "Jim" Toner June 1, 1956, who survives of the home.
She was a homemaker, wife and mother. She also worked at Dillard's since it opened.
Mrs. Toner was preceded in death by her parents, Lester Thomas and Myrtle Emma (Whittenberg) Garner; son, Jimmy Toner; and brother, Sonny Garner.
She was a member of the Wyatt Park Christian Church; League of Women Voters, of which she was a former President, volunteered for various P.T.A's, United Cerebral Palsy and the American Heart Association.
Survivors: her daughter, Julie Fay Toner, Louisville, Kentucky; son, John Toner and wife Tonya of Rogersville; two grandchildren, Patrick and Megan Schrader; four sisters, Jean Joyce, Shirley Apprill, Teenie Follwell and Kay Low; two brothers, Jerry Garner and Howard Garner; numerous nieces and nephews.
Services: 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, 2007, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory, 5005 Frederick Boulevard, St. Joseph, Mo. 64506.
Interment: 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6, 2007, Essex Cemetery, Essex.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007, at Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
