Iris Delene Chasteen, daughter of the late Thomas and Mallie Gregory Whittle, was born on November 19, 1924 in Burnet, Ark. and died at her residence in Dexter on August 27, 2007 at the age of 82.

Mrs. Chasteen was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Dexter, a homemaker and a resident of Dexter.

She is survived by one son, Tom Burris and wife Willa of Dexter; two daughters, Brenda Lillard and husband Gaylon and Danetta Cates and husband Jim both of Dexter; one brother, Harlon Whittle of Poplar Bluff; five grandchildren, Debbie Heald, Darrell Lillard, Paul Smith, Crystal Smith and Mark Joiner; and eight great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Calvin Joiner; one brother, Hubert Whittle; and two sisters, Etole Blankenship and Sue Prichard.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2007 at 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Dexter with Allen Laszewski officiating. Interment will follow at a later date.
