William Ira Hampton
William Ira Hampton, son of the late George Washington Hampton and Annie Jane Dile Hampton, was born on Dec. 21, 1926, at Dillion, Ark., and died at his residence in rural Malden at the age of 80.

Mr. Hampton was a machinist and was of the Pentecostal faith.

He was united in marriage to Julious Lee Hampton on Feb. 25, 1944, at Mt. Judea, Ark. She preceded her husband in death on June 13, 2005.

Survivors include one son, George Hampton, Sr. and wife Yvonne of Malden; one daughter, Julie Ivonne Winn and husband Donald, Sr. of Malden; one daughter-in-law, Gloria Hampton of Dexter; three brothers, John Hampton and Clyde Hampton, both of Pelsor, Ark., and Floyd Hampton, Jr. of Dover, Ark.; two sisters, Maxine Sexton of Pelsor, Ark., and Irene Riddell of Russellville, Ark.; 11 grandchildren, George Hampton Jr., Heather Rauscher, Angel Copeland, Jennifer Hampton, Kathie Easley, Donald Winn Jr., Laura Hampton, William Winn, K Kristyn Winn, Juliane Winn and Jonathan Winn; 16 great-grandchildren, Maci Hampton, Bailey Hampton, Christian Hampton, Devin Hampton, Marandon Hampton, Justice Hampton, Jason Easley Jr., Channing Hampton, Austin Rauscher, Jadon Easley, Annie Copeland, Legend Copeland, Rayne Spurgeon, Jalon Easley, Freedom Copeland and Bralyn Winn.

Besides his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Billy Wayne Hampton; five brothers, Walter Hampton, Jess Hampton, Frank Hampton, Marvin Hampton and Charles Hampton.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie from 5:30-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, 2007.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Raymond Ledbetter officiating.

Interment will follow in the Elder Cemetery in rural Campbell,
