Charles Ralph Smith, son of Elma Loeda Wells Smith Hain, was born in St. Louis on Sept. 16, 1942, and died at his home in Parma on Friday, Sept. 21, 2007, at the age of 65.

Mr. Smith had lived in Oklahoma and Florida before moving to Parma. He was the water plant operator for the city of Belleair, Fla. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and John Deere tractors. He couldn't wait to get home to ride his 1949 John Deere tractor. He attended the Assembly of God Church.

On Nov. 11, 1978, he was married to Maggie Darlene Ray in Parma.

Surviving are his wife, Maggie Darlene Smith of Parma; two sons, Bruce Leon Smith of Dallas, Texas, and Gregory Scott Stidham of Pinellas Park, Fla.; one daughter, Charla Sue Smith of St. Louis; his mother, Elma L. Hain of Parma; four grandchildren; one brother, Mike Hain of Parma; and one sister, Shirley Payne of Parma.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Parma.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Parma.

Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Campbell with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Parma in charge of arrangements.
