Catherine Cooper, daughter of the late Joe L. Williams and Stella Lawson Williams, was born on April 6, 1944, at Lilbourn and died in the Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau at the age of 63.

Mrs. Cooper had worked as a Cashier at Wal-Mart in Malden for several years, was a member of the New Prospect Church of rural Malden and was a resident of Gideon.

She was united in marriage to Howard Lee Cooper on May 3, 1975, at Malden. Mr. Cooper preceded his wife in death on Aug. 1, 2004.

Survivors include one daughter, Tammy McCourt of Bonne Terre; two sons, Bruce Cooper of Puxico and Stephen Wayne Williams of Bernie; two sisters, Pansy Brown of De Soto and Mary Farmer of Park Hills; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, J. D. Williams and Robert Powell.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Paul Stearns officiating.

Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
