Richard Thomas Myers, son of the late Johnny Chester and Vleeta (Dodson) Myers, was born Aug. 11, 1947, at Clinton, Ky., and died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, at his residence in Taylor Springs, Ill.
Mr. Myers retired as a Navy CB in 1988 as heavy equipment operator, a mechanic for Northern American Van Lines for six years and Equipment Service in Jacksonville, Fla. He had served during the Vietnam era.
On March 4, 1975, he was united in marriage to Nellie Jean Ondrey in Pensacola, Fla. She survives of the home in Taylor Springs, Ill.
Survivors include one daughter, Bobbie Myers of Dexter; two grandsons; two brothers, Chester D. Myers and Lawrence Myers; and four sisters, Donna Coultier, Susie Carlyle, Phyllis Schelski and Rita Adams.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Reba Myers.
Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2007, at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, Ill.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007, at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro, Ill., with military rites by V.F.W. Post #1306 at Clear Springs Cemetery in rural Hillsboro with Rev. Les Atkins , pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro, Ill., officiating.
Interment followed in Clear Springs Cemetery.
