Bonita M. Heiligtag

Bonita M. Heiligtag, the daughter of the late Cecil and Murrel Hickman Payton, was born in Poplar Bluff on Jan. 20, 1941, and died at the Puxico Nursing and Rehab Center in Puxico on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, at the age of 66.

Mrs. Heiligtag had lived most of her life in the Puxico area with the exception of 30 years in St. Louis. She was a retired beautician and had worked at Hans Coiffeurs. She was an avid Cardinals fan and loved NASCAR.

On Aug. 19, 1996, she was married to Donald Heiligtag. He preceded her in death on Sept. 22, 2005.

Surviving are one son, Troy Faries of Troy; two grandchildren; one brother, Frank Payton of Pevely; and two sisters, Caroline Smotherman and Jean Hubbert, both of Defiance.

She was preceded in death by one son, Gary Wayne Hargrave.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, at the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico with Bro. Sam Brotherton of Puxico officiating.

Interment will be in the Puxico Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
